A person’s struggles with a behavioral health condition can make their day-to-day life difficult to manage. But with professional support, they can take the necessary steps toward improving their overall well-being.
Riverwoods Behavioral Health System offers a partial hospitalization program (PHP) for adults whose lives have been disrupted by certain behavioral health concerns. Our team of compassionate professionals can help you find your unique path to healing.
About Our PHP
The partial hospitalization program at Riverwoods Behavioral Health System supports adults age 18 and older who are suffering from behavioral health conditions such as major depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. We also support people who are struggling with a substance use disorder such as alcohol use disorder.
This program is often ideal for someone who just completed an inpatient or residential program and needs to continue their progress at a lower level of care. The PHP at our facility in Riverdale, Georgia, may also be beneficial for those who don’t need the regular supervision they would receive at higher levels of care but may still require more intensive support than what is typically provided in traditional outpatient therapy.
We offer PHP services from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, with PHP participants returning home or to another supportive environment at the end of the day. Most people receive care in our PHP for about 28 days, but each person’s actual length of program participation depends on a variety of individual factors.
Care Experience
To promote the best outcomes for the people we serve at Riverwoods Behavioral Health System, we carefully assess everyone’s needs and develop care plans that we fully customize for each person. This approach will allow us to hand-pick the therapies and services that can help you achieve your unique therapeutic goals.
Everyone heals differently, which is why we use different therapies and approaches depending on each person’s specific situation. During your time in our PHP, you may take part in elements of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing.
We primarily use group therapy in our PHP to help our patients learn more about the behavioral health concerns they are facing and develop valuable skills that can assist them in managing specific conditions. Master’s-level clinicians and mental health specialists lead group sessions, and they personalize discussion topics based on each person’s specific needs. Topics might include developing healthier coping skills, setting boundaries, and creating a relapse prevention plan.
Many people also take part in at least one family therapy session during their time in the PHP at our Riverdale, Georgia, facility, while individual counseling is a service we recommend on a case-by-case basis. For those who may benefit from the use of certain prescription medications to help them function better, they may meet with a nurse practitioner one to two times weekly.
Continuing Care
At Riverwoods Behavioral Health System, our commitment to your success won’t end once your time with us is complete. Before you leave our facility in Riverdale, Georgia, we will strive to ensure that you have the tools you need to continue the progress you made with us.
This means creating a comprehensive discharge plan that outlines your next steps after completing our PHP. We will begin planning for your discharge as soon as you are admitted to our PHP and encourage you to play an active role in this process. This typically involves working with your care team to identify the most beneficial ongoing treatment options, which might include traditional outpatient counseling services or additional 12-Step education and support.
We know how devastating it can be to live with a behavioral health condition or a substance use disorder. Let the experts at Riverwoods Behavioral Health System help you get on the path to a better, brighter future.
